Key Requirements for Guaranteed Consular Acceptance
Head Positioning & Eye Level
Use the built-in biometric guide overlay. Your chin should align with the lower red guideline, the top of your hair (crown) with the upper guideline, and your eyes along the center green horizon line. Keep your head straight without tilting.
Neutral Facial Expression
Both eyes must be completely open and looking directly into the camera lens. Keep your mouth closed with a natural, unsmiling expression. Teeth should not be visible.
Eyeglasses & Head Coverings
In the United States and most Schengen territories, eyeglasses are strictly prohibited even if worn daily. Religious head coverings are accepted provided they do not cast shadows over your face or obscure the hairline.
Background Color Nuances
Requirements vary by authority: the US and India mandate pure white or off-white backgrounds, whereas the UK and France strictly disallow pure white, demanding plain light grey or cream backgrounds instead.
How to Print Your Photos for Under $0.50
Commercial photo kiosks and pharmacies often charge $15 to $20 for two passport photos. By generating a Print Sheet (4 × 6 inches / 10 × 15 cm) with our tool, you can print 6 to 8 identical passport photos for standard postcard print rates (usually $0.25 to $0.40):
- Select the Print Sheet export mode and choose 4 × 6 inches paper size.
- Download the high-resolution 300 DPI JPEG file (1200 × 1800 px).
- Upload the image to any local pharmacy or photo print service (e.g. Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Boots, or your home color photo printer) as a standard 4×6 photo print.
- Ensure the print lab is set to 100% scale (Do Not Fit / Do Not Crop) on glossy or semi-gloss photo paper.
- Cut out the photos using the dashed guideline markers with scissors or a paper trimmer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a smartphone camera to take my passport photo?
Yes. Modern smartphone cameras exceed the required 300 DPI resolution. Have someone else take the portrait from approximately 1.5 to 2 meters (5 to 6 feet) away using the back camera to avoid wide-angle selfie distortion.
Does this tool modify facial features or alter skin tone?
No. ClickAndOne adheres to strict biometric integrity rules. We do not apply beauty filters, AI hallucination, or facial retouching, as altered photos are automatically flagged and rejected by consular facial recognition systems.
Why does my photo need to be 300 DPI?
300 DPI (dots per inch) is the worldwide optical resolution threshold for biometric printing. At 300 DPI, individual pixels are invisible to the naked eye, ensuring facial features and passport security microprints render with razor-sharp fidelity.
Is my photo stored or uploaded to any server?
Never. All cropping, zooming, rotating, and canvas export operations execute purely in your local browser memory via HTML5 Canvas. Your photo data never leaves your device.
