Client-Side QR Code Generation & Optical Scanning
The ClickAndOne QR Code Studio provides complete creation and optical decoding of Quick Response (QR) matrix barcodes directly inside your web browser. Utilizing pure JavaScript rasterization and modern browser media APIs, your data payloads, Wi-Fi credentials, contact details, and camera feeds never leave your device.
Supported QR Data Formats
Website & Web App Links
Standard HTTPS web URLs. When scanned by any smartphone camera, prompts the user to visit your landing page, portfolio, or documentation.
Wi-Fi Network Credentials
Standardized WIFI: protocol encoding SSID, authentication encryption (WPA/WPA2/WPA3, WEP, Open), and password for 1-tap guest connectivity.
Contact Cards (vCard 3.0)
Digital business cards incorporating full name, telephone, email address, company name, job title, and website directly into device address books.
Email Messages
Standard mailto: URI containing pre-filled recipient address, subject line, and initial message body for support desks or feedback.
Phone Numbers
Direct dial tel: protocol allowing mobile callers to instantly dial customer service lines or hotlines without manual input.
Plain Text & Notes
Raw textual information for asset tags, serial numbers, inventory management, or offline reference messages.
QR Code Contrast & Optical Scanning Guidelines
Optical camera sensors detect QR codes by analyzing the light difference between the dark modules and the bright background. To ensure maximum scan reliability in poor lighting or on low-end cameras:
| Contrast Ratio | Legibility Status | Camera Scanning Behavior | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| > 7.0 : 1 | Optimal (AAA) | Instant recognition across all smartphones and angled scans | Standard black on white or dark navy on light backgrounds |
| 3.0 : 1 – 7.0 : 1 | Acceptable (AA) | Reliable under normal daylight and clean printing | Brand accent colors (emerald, royal blue, deep purple) |
| < 3.0 : 1 | Low Contrast (Warning) | Frequent scan failures, delays, or unrecognized codes | Avoid light yellows, pastels, or light gray foregrounds |
Security Disclosure & Untrusted Payload Handling
QR codes can encode arbitrary text, including malicious web links (phishing) or misleading instructions. ClickAndOne treats all scanned content as untrusted by default. Our scanner previews the exact destination URL, parsed Wi-Fi password, or vCard details before you take any action. Scanned web links are never executed or visited automatically.
Payment notice: While QR codes can contain payment strings or banking URLs, generating or scanning a QR code does not verify that a transaction is authentic or that funds were transferred. Always verify payments within your official banking application.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do generated QR codes ever expire?
No. ClickAndOne generates 100% static QR codes. The content (your URL, Wi-Fi password, or text) is encoded directly into the geometric pattern of the barcode. Because there are no intermediate redirect servers or tracking proxies, your QR code will work permanently as long as the printed image remains legible.
Which image format is best for printing: PNG or SVG?
For print media such as business cards, brochures, posters, or restaurant table tents, always use the SVG Vector format. SVG files scale infinitely without pixelation or blurriness at any DPI. For digital sharing on websites, social media, or email signatures, the PNG format at 512×512 or 1024×1024 resolution is ideal.
How does the camera scanner handle user privacy?
Camera scanning runs entirely on your local CPU using the browser MediaDevices API and pure JavaScript image analysis. No video frames, screenshots, or decoded results are transmitted to external servers. Furthermore, camera tracks are immediately stopped and released as soon as you stop scanning or switch tabs.
