How Client-Side Image Compression Works
Our Image Compressor processes your photos entirely within your web browser using HTML5 Canvas graphics hardware acceleration. Your images are never uploaded to remote servers or third-party cloud APIs.
Compression Formats & Best Practices
- JPEG Compression: Uses lossy quantization to reduce file size significantly while retaining high visual fidelity. Adjust the quality slider between 60% and 85% for optimal web performance.
- WebP Format: Provides superior lossy and lossless compression compared to legacy JPEG and PNG formats. Converting JPEG or PNG photos to WebP usually yields smaller file sizes.
- PNG Compression: PNG uses lossless palette compression. Note that re-encoding a PNG through browser Canvas without reducing colors or dimensions may not reduce file size further.
Privacy & Security Guarantee: All image rendering, canvas resampling, and compression occur locally inside your browser session using standard Web APIs. No data leaves your device.
